Tema Police Seize 1,613 Parcels of Suspected Narcotics (Two Arrested in Major Drug Bust)

On January 11, 2026, the Tema Regional Police Command stopped 1,613 packages of suspected drugs along the Akosombo-Tema road. This was part of a coordinated operation after they got a tip on January 10 that drugs were being moved from the Volta Region to Tema. Surveillance at Agomeda Junction led to the arrest of 33-year-old Isaac Odoi and 39-year-old Kwame Mani, who were driving a white Toyota Highlander (GS 2013-13) and a black Mitsubishi Pajero (GC 400-22). The Mitsubishi had 872 parcels inside, and the Toyota had 741. ASP Dede Dzakpasu, the Tema Regional Police Command’s Head of Public Affairs, said, “Our teams acted quickly to make sure these dangerous substances didn’t get to our communities.” On January 12th, the suspects and evidence were given to the Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID). Samples were taken for forensic analysis, and more searches were planned at the suspects’ homes. ASP Dzakpasu asked the public to help law enforcement by saying, “We urge the public to continue sharing credible information to help us keep our communities safe.” This shows the police’s commitment to stopping drug trafficking and keeping people safe.
