The Wisdom of Silence
Words carry weight, and their value depends on the thought, honesty and intention behind them. Speaking gives us the opportunity to explain ourselves, share knowledge and build understanding. Yet careless speech can create confusion, damage trust and turn simple disagreements into lasting conflicts.
Silence gives the mind room to think before the tongue responds. It allows us to listen more carefully, understand what others are saying, and recognise when a conversation deserves a contribution. There are moments when a thoughtful response can resolve what endless arguments only make worse.
Wisdom also lies in knowing when silence becomes avoidance. Some situations demand that we speak, defend what is right, correct falsehood and accept responsibility.
Speak when your words carry meaning. Listen when understanding is needed. Remain silent when the need be.
