TVET enrolment jumps 8.6%, 61,506 students now in as Ghana eyes Germany and Japan model for skills revolution.

Clement Apaak, Deputy Minister of Education, has announced that enrolment in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions nationwide has increased by 8.6 per cent, with 61,506 students enrolled this year compared to 55,295 last year. Speaking after touring selected TVET institutions in Accra during ongoing final examinations, Dr. Apaak described the increase as a sign of growing confidence in technical and vocational education and a positive step toward workforce development and industrial growth. He encouraged parents and students to embrace TVET programmes, stressing their importance to national development, while highlighting government efforts to strengthen the sector through initiatives such as a proposed TVET Fund and a five-million-euro grant secured from Italy by Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu. Dr. Apaak added that Ghana was positioning its TVET system along the lines of industrialised countries such as Japan, Singapore, South Korea, China, Malaysia, Germany and the United States, which have advanced through significant investment in technical and vocational education.
