Who Are You Fooling?” — Angry NPP Voice Accuses NEC of Corruption, Rigging & Betrayal
The way that certain regional chairpersons and members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Executive go about their daily lives as if they are unaware of the party’s current situation, the sentiment of the majority of its members, and the danger that the party may face in the near future astounds me. Under the cover of a cowardly National Executive Council (NEC), the National Executive chose to conceal a hastily prepared report from the Ghanaian public rather than recording and analyzing the factors that contributed to the NPP’s humiliating defeat in the most recent general election and taking corrective action to avoid such a humiliating outcome in the future. To make matters worse, the National Executive, once more hiding behind the cowardly NEC, decided to forgo the sensible and tried-and-true practice of choosing the party’s flagbearer for the upcoming general election two years prior to the elections when the party is in opposition. Instead, they chose a top-down strategy that would hold that election nearly three years prior to the next general election. These plots are being planned by the inept national executive members and their puppet masters, who led the party to the abhorrent and shameful defeat, merely to give their favorite candidate another chance to be elected to the National Executive Committee, whether through fair or unfair means. The National Executive and the NEC believe they are lying to whom? The election process is being rigged and corrupted because of this top-down strategy. As seen in December 2024, a crooked internal election is followed by disgruntled NPP members and supporters abstaining from voting in a general election. Do they believe that astute NPP members and Ghanaians in general are incapable of seeing the plots being hatched? People are speaking out against this highest level of corruption in private and in certain public settings, but it seems like nothing can be done about it. Our moms and ancestors, who battled for the nation’s freedom, weren’t that submissive.
