Youth Minister, YEA Board Meet to Boost Job Creation (Focus on Sustainable Empowerment)
George Opare Addo, the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, met with the Board of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) for a strategic review meeting. The goal was to make job creation programs stronger and help Ghanaian youth get better long-term jobs. The meeting on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, was similar to one that took place with the National Youth Authority. It is part of a larger review of youth-focused agencies under the Ministry to make sure that policy priorities are better aligned with effective program delivery. Mr. Opare Addo stressed how important the YEA Board is for turning government policy into results-driven actions. He said that the talks were mostly about making more jobs available, getting the most value for money, and figuring out if YEA programs provide long-term livelihoods instead of just short-term jobs. He stressed that programs to help young people get jobs must give them skills and opportunities that will help them become economically independent in the long term. He called the engagement a key policy exercise aimed at speeding up job creation, making programs more effective, and ensuring the economic future of young Ghanaians.
