Digital Plate Mafia? DVLA CEO Faces OSP After Explosive Bribe Claim
Julius Neequaye Kotey, the Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), has accepted an invitation from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to respond to inquiries concerning a purported bribe of GH¢4 million. The summons comes in the wake of Mr. Kotey’s revelation that he rebuffed a bribe of GH¢4 million, purportedly proffered to him in an attempt to cease the implementation of the new Digitalized Vehicle Registration Plate (DP) policy. In a recent press conference, he disclosed that certain powerful figures sought to sway him from his noble quest for the digital plate endeavor, a venture designed to thwart the nefarious acts of vehicular deceit and to bolster the safety of our thoroughfares. Upon his departure from the OSP offices, Mr. Kotey refused to engage with the press, proclaiming that he would speak to the media at a future time. Meanwhile, the OSP has confirmed its pursuit of additional information from the chief of the DVLA to authenticate his assertions and uncover the identities of those implicated in the purported bribery endeavor.
