The Australian National University (ANU) offers the University Research Scholarship (URS) annually to support high-achieving Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students whose research aligns with the university’s strategic priorities. The scholarship is available to both domestic and international students enrolled in accredited postgraduate research programs at ANU.
ANU, based in Canberra, is one of Australia’s top-ranked research universities, known globally for academic excellence, strong research output, and leadership in public policy and global studies. The URS is part of ANU’s central scholarship rounds (Round 1 and Round 2), alongside other major awards such as the AGRTP.
Scholarship Duration: 3.5 years (with a possible 6-month extension)

Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be domestic or international HDR students at ANU
- Hold at least First-Class Honours (H1) or equivalent
- Not be an Industry PhD candidate receiving a full-time salary
