ECOWAS SOUNDS RED ALERT! Terror Attacks Hit 450 with Nearly 2,000 Dead in 2025
The CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, Sammy Gyamfi, has called for Kimberley Process (KP) participants to resume stalled reforms and take a more adaptable stance to issues facing the world diamond trade. Speaking at the KP Ministerial Meeting in Dubai, he pointed out that while traditional violent violence has decreased in areas that produce diamonds, people continue to experience structural vulnerabilities and exploitation that the existing framework does not address. Gyamfi cautioned that reaching a consensus should not become “a recipe for paralysis” and called for gradual reforms that safeguard vulnerable populations while preserving lawful trade. He also warned that failing to reach a consensus on an expanded definition of “conflict diamonds” could jeopardize the scheme’s credibility. Ghana stated its openness to work with all sides and emphasized that the search of a flawless agreement shouldn’t impede significant progress. Discussions on governance changes and implementation issues among member nations continue during the summit, which is attended by ministers, government delegations, representatives from civil society, and business leaders.
