Volta North Police Arrest Two, Seize 680 Parcels of Suspected Indian Hemp in Drug Bust!
The Volta North Regional Police Command has two drivers, Akyereme George, 43, and Benjamin Akpado, 23, in custody for allegedly transporting dried substances that are thought to be Indian hemp. Inspector Felix Kwao, the Regional Public Relations Officer, said that the suspects were arrested on Thursday, January 29, 2026, while driving cars with registration numbers GE-8254-13 and AW-4321-14 toward Kpando. He said that when the suspects saw a police patrol team, they tried to run away into a nearby bush, but they were caught. A search of their cars found 20 sacks with 680 pieces of dried leaves packed in white rubber bags. The suspects are helping the police with their investigations as they try to catch the people who own the drugs. The Command also said it is still committed to fighting drug trafficking in the area.
