Afenyo-Markin: Review AI Aptitude Tests (Says Security Recruitment Must Be More Inclusive)

Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader and Effutu MP, has asked for a review of the aptitude tests based on artificial intelligence that are being used to hire new people for Ghana’s security services. He says that many applicants are having trouble with them. On March 10, 2026, he spoke in the Parliament of Ghana and said that many lawmakers had heard complaints from people who were disqualified because they had trouble with the online testing system. He asked the government to make the process more open by letting people who don’t have a lot of digital skills take the test by hand, especially people from rural areas like Pusiga and Bunkpurugu. Afenyo-Markin said that many candidates have to pay to use internet cafés and often have technical problems that keep them from finishing the tests. He stressed that this is a systemic problem that needs to be fixed right away to make sure that hiring is fair and open to everyone.
