Adwoa Safo Allegedly Shot At Amid Kristo Asafo Succession Dispute
Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, was allegedly shot at while attempting to serve a court injunction on her younger brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, in the midst of an escalating succession dispute within the Kristo Asafo Mission.
The allegation was contained in a statement issued by the Kwadwo Safo family on Monday, June 22, following a shooting incident at a property linked to Israel Safo. The incident reportedly occurred during a gathering connected to efforts to install him as leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission following the death of its founder, Apostle Emeritus Prof. Ing. Kwadwo Safo.
According to the statement, witnesses claimed that armed individuals opened fire during the event, while unconfirmed reports suggested that approximately 15 rounds of ammunition were discharged.
The family stated that Adwoa Safo, whom it described as the duly recognised head of the Kwadwo Safo family, sustained injuries during the incident but is in stable condition and responding well to medical treatment.
The statement further alleged that Israel Safo, together with some church elders, had planned a private installation ceremony to declare him leader of the mission, despite succession directives reportedly left by the late founder.
The incident has intensified tensions surrounding the leadership succession of the Kristo Asafo Mission, with the family maintaining that the founder had established a different succession framework before his death.
