Charles Forson Dismisses Concerns Over Boadu-Kodua Working Relationship
Charles Forson, Tema Central Member of Parliament, has dismissed concerns that the past electoral rivalry between newly elected New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman John Boadu and General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong could affect their ability to work together. Speaking on Eyewitness News on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, Mr Forson said he saw nothing wrong with the two working together, despite Mr Kodua defeating Mr Boadu in the 2022 contest for the General Secretary position. “I don’t see anything wrong with it,” he said, stressing that their previous contest should not define their current relationship. He noted that Mr Kodua had also previously supported Mr Boadu in another party contest and said the NPP’s committees and structures would provide the basis for the executives to work together.
Mr Forson said Mr Boadu, as head of the national executives, would have to work with the party’s various structures as the NPP reorganises. “He’s the head of the executives, and I believe that he’s going to do a fantastic job. He’s going to listen. He’s going to work with everybody,” he said. Mr Boadu was elected National Chairman at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference in Kumasi on October 3, defeating Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko and former Chairman Paul Afoko, while Mr Kodua retained the General Secretary position with 4,486 votes. Mr Forson said the outcome of their previous contests should not be interpreted as evidence of an enduring feud.
