ECOWAS Drama! Patricia Appiagyei Exposes Secret Plot to Oust Afenyo-Markin—Accuses Speaker Bagbin & Ayariga of Breaking the Law and Embarrassing Ghana, Demands Apology & Justice!
According to Madam Patricia Appiagyei, the Speaker of the House of Parliament, Bagbin, and the Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, attempted to coerce her into participating in a scheme to exclude the Minority Leader, Afenyo-Markin, from Ghana’s mission to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) without her approval. She claims that Afenyo-Markin was unwell and that, during this time, Ayariga secretly made the decision to alter the delegation list, removing him and inserting herself in his place despite the fact that the Minority had already selected him. In spite of the fact that she had issued a written refusal of the action, her name was nonetheless sent to ECOWAS by the Speaker. After some time had passed, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) intervened, reminding Ghana that it would be necessary to get Afenyo-Markin’s permission before he could be dismissed. It is her belief that the Speaker and the Majority Leader have disregarded the law, made Ghana look bad, and are now attempting to get retribution on Afenyo-Markin by sending him to the Privileges Committee. This is all just because he was doing his duty for the Economic Community of West African States. She asserts that the conduct in question is unlawful, politically motivated, and a part of a more extensive effort to intimidate him. In addition, she wants that the petition be withdrawn, that an apology be given, that his name be returned to the delegation, and that all assaults against him be stopped.
