Ghana at Risk? Kojo Oppong Nkrumah Sounds Alarm on Terrorism Threat! Over 2 Million Small Arms, Porous Borders—Only United Action Can Keep Us Safe!

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, who represents the Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency as a member of parliament, has issued a warning that Ghana might become a conduit for terrorist operations if significant deficiencies in its security measures are not swiftly remedied. During his speech at a public forum on the topic of terrorism, he said that the nation is susceptible to infiltration due to the existence of more than two million small guns, porous land borders, corruption, and the prevalence of extremist activities in the area. He pointed out that according to intelligence sources, it would not be difficult for extremist organizations to take advantage of these vulnerabilities. Oppong Nkrumah emphasized that the prevention of terrorism is not the exclusive duty of security forces and advocated for a collective, society-wide endeavor that includes the participation of the government, communities, civil society, foreign partners, the media, and the general public.
