Frimpong-Boateng: ‘I’m Not Leaving NPP (Let the Fake Ones Go)

Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, who used to be the Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, says he has no plans to leave the New Patriotic Party (NPP) even though the party is trying to kick him out because he has been critical of them. He said on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, “I am not leaving the party.” They need to leave the party. They are the fakes. The real party will stay, and they should leave. His comments come after an interview on Channel One TV on January 12, 2026, in which he called the NPP a “fake party,” said he no longer considers himself a member, and claimed that the 2023 presidential primary was rigged in favor of then-Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Justin Frimpong Koduah, the NPP’s General Secretary, said the accusations were “highly reprehensible” and not backed up by any proof. Prof. Frimpong-Boateng said that his criticisms are based on loyalty to the party’s founding principles, not personal disagreements.
