Galamsey isn’t NDC or NPP, it’s a national crisis, says aspiring NPP chair Odeneho Appiah.
Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, an aspirant for the Ashanti Regional chairmanship of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called for a united national approach in the fight against illegal mining, asserting that the battle against galamsey should be a national, not a partisan issue. Speaking during a visit to Heaven Seekers Ministry on Sunday, May 10, where he joined congregants to celebrate Mother’s Day, he said illegal mining is destroying land and endangering lives, and urged collective action coupled with prayer to tackle the environmental menace. He further noted that effective policy measures and what he termed divine intervention are both necessary to tackle the problem. He reiterated his intention to contest the Ashanti Regional chairmanship position, pledging leadership that is humble, dedicated and integrity-driven, and expressed confidence in winning the election slated for August 8, 2026. Illegal mining is destroying land, putting lives in danger, and we need collective action, coupled with prayers to address this environmental challenge,” he said.
