GHS10 Million Overspent! Minority Demands Prosecution of Transport Ministry Officials—“Heads Must Roll for Breaking Financial Laws!” Calls for Full Probe in Parliament.

The minority caucus in the parliament is calling for the officials at the Ministry of Transport to be prosecuted immediately due to the fact that they are suspected of spending more than ten million Ghana cedis from the budget for the year 2025 without first obtaining permission from the house. The caucus contends that, while the Parliament approved a budget of GHS83 million for the ministry’s capital spending, the ministry exceeded that amount by GHS10 million, which is in violation of the Public Financial Management Act. The Minority voiced their insistence that accountability is of the utmost importance and that there must be consequences for failure to meet these standards as they made their contributions to the discussion on the Ministry’s projected budget for the year 2026. “Has somebody been sent to the Office of Student Programs? They made a visit here specifically to discuss the PFM legislation. Mr. Speaker, it is apparent that a significant number of you are going to end up in prison. “Mr. Speaker, this matter must be investigated thoroughly,” I have observed from the very first year. The way that they were able to spend more than around ten million Ghana cedis Mr. Speaker, the minority is calling for an investigation to determine the reasons behind the fact that they spent more than the limit.
