Health Minister Orders Audit of Oti Facilities (24 /7 Cleaning for Safer, Better Hospitals)

The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has ordered a comprehensive audit of all health facilities in the Oti Region to strengthen service delivery and safeguard patient safety, directing the Technical Advisor to the Ministry of Health, Dr. Korku Awoonor, to form a technical working group to assess the structural integrity, operational capacity and overall productivity of facilities, according to a directive shared by the ministry on Facebook on Tuesday, January 13, 2026; the order, issued during a two-day management retreat of the Ministry of Health, forms part of the government’s broader agenda to improve oversight of health infrastructure and ensure facilities meet approved safety, quality and performance standards, while the minister has also ordered the introduction of 24-hour cleaning services in all public hospitals nationwide to enhance hygiene and patient experience, with the ministry stating that the measures are aimed at strengthening infection prevention and control, creating safer and more patient-friendly environments, and demonstrating a commitment to proactive supervision, improved facility management and sustained investment in quality healthcare delivery.
