Nana B: No One Above NPP (Frimpong-Boateng Must Answer for ‘Fake Party’ Remark)
Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), also known as Nana B, said that former Environment Minister Prof. Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng must be held accountable for calling the NPP a “fake party” during an interview on The Point of View on Channel One TV on Monday, January 12. He said that the party leadership had abandoned its founding values, which Nana B said hurt party unity and were not fair given the former minister’s record in government. Speaking on Channel One Newsroom on Tuesday, January 13, he said, “The party is supreme in terms of its membership.” The party is above everyone else. He is a high-ranking member of the party who has gained from it. He has served as a Minister of State in the past for the NPP. Today you turn around and say such bad things about the NPP. I would have kicked him out a long time ago if I had the power, but we have rules. That is why NEC has made a suggestion. NEC will think about kicking out Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, but they are telling their members to work together instead of complaining in public. The party, through General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua, has called the comments “highly reprehensible,” denied that the 2023 presidential primary was rigged in favor of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and even though the process of kicking him out has started, Prof. Frimpong-Boateng says he is still a member and has turned down invitations to appear before the National Executive Committee or the Disciplinary Committee.
