Nketiah’s bold 2028 target: split Ashanti Region 50-50, no longer NPP’s ‘world bank,’ but a battleground for development.
Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, is sure that the NDC and the New Patriotic Party will be able to split the Ashanti Region’s electoral votes evenly in the 2028 elections. During his “Thank You” tour in Nyinahin, which is in the Atwima Mponua constituency, he said he was determined to help reach that goal before he retired from politics. He says that the Ashanti Region is slowly moving away from being seen only as the NPP’s stronghold. Voters are now more interested in infrastructure, development, and better living conditions than party loyalty. He said that the NDC would get more support if they finished projects that had been passed down to them, started new ones with the help of traditional leaders and local communities, and made sure that people had opportunities. He said that development outcomes, better living conditions, and keeping campaign promises have a bigger impact on how people vote now. Mr. Asiedu Nketiah also told people who work for the government to do their best and told party members to stay together and help their communities grow. Ibrahim Issahak, the District Chief Executive for the area, talked about ongoing projects in infrastructure, education, health, agriculture, energy, the economy, water and sanitation.
