Sam George: Don’t Register SIMs for Others (Fraud Could Get Ghana Card Blocked)

Samuel Nartey George has told people not to register SIM cards for other people. He says that if a SIM card linked to fraud is registered under a person’s Ghana Card, the card could be flagged or blocked, which would stop more SIM registrations. He said on March 17 that the government’s changes to SIM registration, which will include a liveliness test, are meant to stop mobile money fraud and make the system more secure. He told people to only register SIM cards for themselves or their dependents and stressed that fraudulent SIM activity will lead to penalties as part of efforts to keep the telecommunications system safe.
