School Feeding grant up from GH¢1.50 to GH¢2.00, tax-free, says Gender Minister, to boost meal quality.
The government has increased the School Feeding Programme grant from GH¢1.50 to GH¢2.00 per pupil, according to the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey.
Dr. Lartey made the announcement while responding to questions on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, June 24, during a briefing on the activities and interventions of her Ministry. She also highlighted the number of children benefiting from the programme nationwide.
The Minister noted that the revised grant is tax-free, meaning caterers will receive the full allocation without any deductions. According to her, this measure is intended to enhance the quality of meals provided to pupils and ensure that caterers have adequate resources to deliver nutritious food.
She expressed confidence that the increase will strengthen the implementation of the School Feeding Programme and contribute to improved nutrition and learning outcomes for schoolchildren across the country.
