Zoomlion-Ghana Collaboration Aims to Tackle Waste, Climate Challenges, and Youth Employment
The government has said it will work more closely with Zoomlion Ghana Limited and the Jospong Group to help keep communities clean, tackle climate challenges, promote new ideas, and create lasting job opportunities.
Speaking at the Jospong Annual Thanksgiving Service in Accra, Minister Ibrahim Ahmed called the partnership strategic, noting that Zoomlion’s work aligns with key national priorities like local services, youth employment, public health, decentralization, and sustainable development. He also pointed out the company’s key accomplishments, including 36 composting, recycling, and waste treatment facilities—the biggest in West Africa—which helped Ghana be recognized by the UN in 2025 as the “Sanitation and Waste Management Hub for West Africa.” From its start as a small office in Jamestown in 1995, Zoomlion has grown into a multinational group with 78 subsidiaries across 25 African countries, demonstrating Ghanaian excellence. Executive Chairman Dr. Joseph Siaw Agyepong said the company’s success is due to divine guidance and consistent support from the government. He highlighted Zoomlion’s leading role in handling solid, liquid, and medical waste and how it has helped make Ghana a top hub for industrial excellence in Africa.
