Northern Ghana just pulled off the BIGGEST poultry immunity boost ever! 200k+ birds now Newcastle-proof!
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture’s (MoFA) Veterinary Services have collaborated on a program that has been supported by the European Union (EU) to vaccinate more than 200,000 birds against Newcastle Disease. This campaign has been carried out in the Savannah, North East, and Upper East Regions, and it has vaccinated birds such as native fowls, guinea fowls, turkeys, ducks, and exotic varieties. The exercise, which was a component of the Food Security Response in Northern Ghana Project that was backed by the European Union, further provided training for seventy field technicians and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on topics such as the mobilization of farmers, poultry health, and the administration of vaccinations. The goal of the effort is to safeguard rural livelihoods, bolster food security, and provide assistance to marginalized populations, including women, youth, and those with disabilities. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the European Union (EU) emphasized that protecting poultry directly increases the nutritional value and income of rural households. In addition, farmers indicated increased optimism after prior losses that were caused by a shortage of vaccinations.
