From Standby Crews to Apps: ECG Ensures Ghana Stays Powered This Holiday
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has assured consumers of a stable and reliable power supply during the Christmas season, saying it has put in place adequate measures to meet the expected increase in demand. According to the Director of Communications, William Boateng, ECG has activated a three-pronged strategy involving a 24-hour standby service, the deployment of sub-transmission teams to manage the high-voltage network, and fault-servicing teams to respond promptly to outages. He said system reliability teams will continuously monitor operations to quickly detect and resolve faults, while customers are encouraged to report issues through ECG call centres, social media platforms and the ECG App for real-time responses. Mr Boateng also cautioned the public against scammers, stressing that ECG does not accept payments via mobile money and that all payments should be made only through the official ECG App, while urging customers to follow the company’s social media channels for updates during the festive period.
