Three new visa waivers, 30 days each, Ghana opens doors to Maldives, Zambia, and Antigua without a stamp.
Ghana’s Cabinet has approved three visa waiver agreements with Maldives, Zambia, and Antigua and Barbuda. This means that Parliament can now ratify them and allow people with regular, service, or diplomatic passports to travel without a visa for up to 30 days. On April 22, 2026, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced the decision. He said that the agreements, which were signed during separate diplomatic meetings, would go into effect after they are approved by Parliament, which is expected to happen soon. The Maldives deal was signed in March 2023 but was waiting for Ghana to officially start it. The Zambia deal came after President John Dramani Mahama’s state visit to Lusaka in February 2026, where a memorandum of understanding was signed. The Antigua and Barbuda deal was signed during the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in September 2025. Mr. Ablakwa said that the government will keep looking for more visa waiver agreements to make the Ghanaian passport more valuable and improve passport security. He also said that the three deals that are still pending are part of 15 such deals that have been made as of February 2026.
