Help Us Finish the Hospitals!” — Akandoh Calls Out Mining Companies
The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has made an appeal to mining corporations requesting that they assist in the completion, equipment, and operation of Agenda 111 hospital projects that have been put on hold in the regions in which they do their business. He said that the objective is to expedite the construction of these facilities by using private sector partnerships, particularly in regions that are rich in resources, while the government continues to finance certain projects directly, during a speech in Accra. In order to underscore the fact that private sector assistance would complement and not supplant government efforts, he drew attention to the fact that business engagement in healthcare already exists, using the examples of the Maritime and Bank of Ghana hospitals. The purpose of the Agenda 111 program, which was started in 2021, is to construct one hundred and one district hospitals, six regional hospitals in previously undeveloped areas, and two mental institutions.
