NPP Open to Reconciliation with Kennedy Agyapong – Nana Akomea

Nana Akomea, Third Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), says the party remains open to reconciling with former presidential aspirant Kennedy Agyapong, provided he is willing to engage and work with the party. He said the NPP’s disciplinary committee, which was tasked by the National Council to consider the matter, is yet to submit its report after receiving an extension beyond the initial two-week deadline. Speaking on Monday, Nana Akomea said members of the National Council must wait for the committee’s recommendations rather than publicly stating their positions, as doing so could prejudice its work. “That determination has been given to the disciplinary committee,” he said.

Nana Akomea said the NPP’s broader reconciliation efforts would depend on a willingness from those involved to engage and move forward with the party. He said the NPP was seeking to expand its support base by reaching floating voters and even supporters of the NDC, making reconciliation with its own members equally important. “But there must be a willingness to engage. That’s the basic thing,” he said. He added that without such willingness, reconciliation would be difficult, and said the party would await the disciplinary committee’s report before determining the way forward on Mr Agyapong’s relationship with the NPP.
