NPP to NDC: Try Ofori-Atta in Absentia (‘Stop the Rhetoric, Follow Due Process)
Justin Frimpong Kodua, the General Secretary of the NPP, has told the NDC to go ahead and prosecute former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta in absentia if they really think he did something wrong. He says the opposition is using his absence for political gain instead of following the law. On Adom FM’s “Dwaso Nsem,” he said, “I dare the NDC to try Ken Ofori-Atta in absentia if they think he has done something wrong. The NPP put Sedina Tamakloe on trial without her being there. If they can’t find Ken, they should go ahead and try him in absentia if they have proof and a good case. He also said that making public accusations without filing charges is propaganda. He said, “They should file the charges and take him to court.” “Now they are blaming Ken’s absence for everything,” and they said that the former minister has become the NDC’s political message, saying, “Ken is now their message.” People talk about Ken when they complain about their water bills. They say Ken isn’t in Ghana when you ask about unemployment. Mr. Kodua told the NDC to stop talking and start doing what they say they will do. He said, “They should try him and stop throwing dust in the eyes of Ghanaians,” and he stressed, “The law provides the path.” If there is a case, take it to court.
