Kufuor: Enforce Separation of Powers (Calls for Stronger Checks in Ghana’s Democracy)

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has called for a stricter separation of powers between the executive, legislature, and judiciary to make democracy stronger and hold people accountable. He said on JoyNews that the executive should focus on making policies and getting them approved by Parliament. Parliament should keep an eye on the executive, and the judiciary, which he called the “oracle of the constitution,” should stay completely independent to protect the rule of law. He also talked about how the media is a “fourth estate” that gives people a voice, teaches them, and shapes national conversation.
