Kwabena Mintah Akandoh Salutes Ghana’s Health Professionals, Reaffirms Government Commitment
Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Ghana’s Minister of Health, has honoured the nation’s healthcare workers and restated the government’s pledge to fortify the country’s health system as the year ends, extending festive greetings to the public in a statement issued on Wednesday, December 24, and singling out doctors, nurses, midwives and other frontline staff for their unwavering dedication amid difficult conditions. He described the past year as one characterised by determination, resilience and a renewed emphasis on enhancing healthcare delivery, noting that deliberate measures have been taken to improve access to quality care, strengthen health financing and prioritise the well‑being of health personnel.
He also acknowledged the support of traditional leaders, development partners and civil society in these efforts while recognising ongoing challenges and assuring that the government remains committed to addressing issues raised by health workers, such as service conditions and logistical needs through constructive engagement. Looking ahead, he highlighted priorities for the Ministry including expanding health infrastructure, boosting service quality, reinforcing preventive health strategies and advancing equitable, affordable care for all Ghanaians, urging citizens to adopt healthy lifestyles and support disease‑prevention programmes. He concluded by wishing everyone a peaceful end to the year and a prosperous new one, with hopes for “good health, unity and progress” for the nation.
