Mahama Throws Crowned Praise at Asantehene for Fixing Bawku Chaos
President John Dramani Mahama has applauded the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for the role he played in trying to bring peace to the long-running Bawku chieftaincy dispute, calling him someone whose leadership is valuable to the whole country, not just the Ashanti Region. After the mediation report was delivered, the President said he appreciated that the Asantehene took the time to read the report himself in public, which helped build trust that lasting peace is possible. Mahama said he had asked Otumfuo earlier this year to take the lead on renewed peace talks, which involved meeting with the feuding sides starting in late April and led to the report being shared on December 1 as a key move toward resolving the decades‑old conflict.
