NPP Admits Painful 2024 Loss—Kodua Urges Unity, Reforms for Stronger Comeback!
Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which is in the opposition, has said that the party is still dealing with its loss in the general elections on December 7, 2024. He sent a New Year’s message to party supporters in which he said that the loss was painful and that the disappointment is still fresh. However, he made it clear that this setback does not define the future of the NPP.
He said that the past year had been hard and that the party had been tested but not broken. He said that the NPP’s real strength doesn’t come from winning one election, but from its core values, ability to bounce back, and long-term dedication to Ghana’s growth.
Mr. Kodua said that the party has already started to fix the problems that were revealed by the loss. Some of these steps include suggesting changes to the party’s constitution, setting up the Patriotic Institute as a training and research center, and bringing back the membership dues payment system to help the party’s structures and organization become stronger.
He said that the NPP has planned important events for the future, such as the presidential primary, internal elections across the country, and a campaign for unity and reconciliation. He told the members that all of these steps would be taken in a fair, open, and honest way. He also warned them not to let factions form within the party.
He thanked the Minority in Parliament and party supporters for being loyal and strong during this hard time. Finally, he told the members not to lose faith, but to stay together, hopeful, and dedicated to rebuilding the party so that it can come back stronger in the future.
