OSP Under Attack! Kpebu Demands Removal of Kissi Agyebeng and Two Top Officials
Following the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) decision to charge former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and other individuals over the contentious revenue assurance contracts between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilization Ghana Limited (SML), private attorney Martin Kpebu has demanded the dismissal of Kissi Agyebeng, the Special Prosecutor, as well as two senior officials of the OSP.Eight individuals, including former GRA Commissioners General Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah and Emmanuel Kofi Nti, senior officials Isaac Crentsil and Kwadwo Damoa, former Finance Ministry Technical Advisor Ernest Akore, SML owner Evans Adusei, and SML itself, were charged with 78 crimes by the OSP on Tuesday, November 18.The OSP claims that allegations of corruption, abuse of office, and procurement violations in the awarding and carrying out of the SML-GRA contracts were discovered after months of investigations. Evidence acquired “points to criminal conduct” at several phases of the contracting procedure, according to Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng. On Tuesday, November 18, Kpebu said on Eyewitness News with Umaru Sanda Amadu that he didn’t think the Special Prosecutor could bring the former finance minister to justice. He said that Agyebeng was unsuitable to head the prosecution since he neglected to apprehend Ofori-Atta even though he was apparently aware of his trip intentions.Additionally, Kpebu demanded the dismissal of Albert Akurugu, the office’s Lead Investigator, and Sammy Darko, the OSP’s Director of Strategy, Research, and Communication.
